Abstract
Libya, due to its geographical location and climatic characteristics, is considered one of the countries whose environment is suitable for the spread of sandflies (Leishmaniosis), especially in areas where agricultural activities overlap with animal breeding. The Al-Hira region in Al-Beyda emerges as an important spatial model for this study, due to the rapid environmental and urban changes it is experiencing, which provide favorable conditions for the reproduction and spread of the vector.
Through a preliminary assessment of the study features, it was found that the rates of skin infections have been increasing over the study years, particularly among younger age groups. This shift in the age pattern may reflect the influence of environmental factors and the disease vector, in addition to the possibility of partial immunity being acquired by older age groups.
To ensure public health safety, the study recommends focusing on vaccination programs for younger age groups and continuing regular control measures targeting reservoir animals..
